A Lesson from Hebrews 10:25

At the Valley Church of Christ, our aim is not only to gather as believers but to grow as disciples. In a recent sermon titled “What’s Your Manner of Life?”, we explored a powerful question rooted in Hebrews 10:25: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is…”

What Is Your “Manner of Life”?

The phrase “as the manner of some is” refers to people’s habits, customs, or patterns of living. In other words—what are you known for? What are the routines that shape your spiritual walk?

Just like our ancestors passed down traditions—good and bad—each of us is forming patterns that impact not just our lives but the generations that follow.

Why Gathering Matters

Hebrews 10:25 emphasizes the importance of not forsaking the assembly. But this is about more than church attendance. It’s about spiritual connection, accountability, and encouragement. When we neglect the gathering, we slowly fall out of rhythm with the body of Christ—and eventually, with God.

Coming together isn’t just a command; it’s a safeguard for our souls.

Building Godly Habits in the Home

As discussed in the sermon, our homes are often where our true “manner of life” is seen. Whether through daily devotionals, prayer, or prioritizing Sunday worship, we’re teaching our children—explicitly or implicitly—what matters most.

We all pass something down. The question is: Are we passing down faithfulness or apathy?

Takeaway: Examine Your Patterns

Are your habits drawing you closer to God—or slowly away from Him? What will your children remember about your manner of life?

We encourage you to reflect on these questions and join us as we seek to walk in a way that reflects Christ daily.
