In this message, we are reminded of one of the most comforting promises given by Jesus: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you… Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Yet for many of us, peace can feel elusive in a life filled with uncertainty, loss, temptation, and hardship. This lesson helps us see where lasting peace is truly found.
Using the powerful story of Joseph from the Old Testament, we are shown a life marked by betrayal, slavery, false accusation, imprisonment, and suffering—none of which Joseph could control. Yet through every season, Joseph chose faithfulness, integrity, forgiveness, and trust in God. In the end, God used what others meant for evil to bring about great good. The message is clear: there are many things in life we cannot control, but there are also things God calls us to choose.
We cannot control suffering, unfair criticism, the actions of others, the past, the future, or even temptation itself. But we can control how we respond. We can choose to forgive instead of becoming bitter. We can choose our attitude, our words, our prayer life, our trust in God, and our effort to grow spiritually. Scripture reminds us that peace does not come from controlling our circumstances—it comes from being in Christ, even when the world around us feels chaotic.
The invitation of this lesson is simple but life-changing: ask each day, “What does God want me to do today?” and then choose to do it. When we live that way, we may still face storms, but we will face them with the steady peace that only Christ can give.
